Broadway or Bust is pleased to offer summer programs for children ages 6-18 (rising grades 2-12) in the summers! Registration opens officially on January 1, 2020, and will be open until June 15, 2020.
Makayla Landry will be graduating from CCHS in June 2020. Theatre is her passion! She have been involved with theatre and music since I was in the 4th grade. This will be her 4th year participating in the Broadway or Bust. Throughout her high school career, Makayla was a cast member in all shows, including her portrayal of Slank/Teacher in Peter and the Starcatcher and Rona Peretti in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and has also participated in the North Carolina All-State Choir in 2019 and 2020.
Kiley Fisher is honored to be a part of inspiring the next generation of passionate theater participants. The opportunity to spread her love for the arts would mean the world to her. She has been in three high school productions, including her roles of Betty Bumbrake in Peter and the Starcatcher and Schwartzy in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and enjoys sharing her experiences with those who would like to do the same.
Madison Krizmanich is a rising senior at JP Knapp Early College. During the school year, she is involved with Currituck County Schools Theatre, some of her notable roles including Sarah Brown in Guys and Dolls, Molly Aster in Peter and the Starcatcher, and Olive Ostrovsky in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. She has a deep passion for art of all kinds and is happy to be back with Broadway or Bust for another wonderful year of introducing theatre to a younger audience.
Damon is a CCHS senior who has been in seven shows including Guys and Dolls, Peter and the Starcatcher, The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee, and Oz. He enjoys games and being with friends. In the fall, Damon plans to pursue a degree in Psychology from Elizabeth City State University.
Alanna Larsen is a current sophomore at Currituck County High School. She has attended Broadway or Bust since its inaugural season and was a junior counselor during the And The Nominees Are... 2019 program. Alanna is a member of the high school chorus and has been seen involved with the Currituck County Schools Theatre.
Maren Dix is a current sophomore at CCHS. This is her third year working with Broadway or Bust, but she has a long history with all things theatre. Maren has been in 8 consecutive shows with Currituck County High School, and plans to use the knowledge she gained from her time on the stage to help coach young performers.
Ethan is a current junior at Currituck County High School. They have been in five productions: The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe, As You Like It, Yanny/Laurel, played Black Stache in Peter and the Starcatcher, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. They participated in my school's Concert Band for six years, playing the trumpet and euphonium. Ethan is a Star Scout and Patrol Leader in Troop 127. They enjoy working with children and enjoy teaching the arts.
Nate is a 10th grader at Currituck County High School. He participates in the Currituck Schools Theatre department's plays and musicals. In the past he has been in Yanny/Laurel, Guys and Dolls, Peter and the Starcatcher, and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. He is also in the High Schools Chorus. Nate likes to make jokes and play around, but when it comes to work he can be serious. He looks forward to being a counselor this season because last year he went to the camp and had an amazing time.
Zoe Larsen will graduate in May 2020 from J.P. Knapp ECHS and College of the Albemarle where she will receive her AFA in Theater. She has been seen in multiple productions, most recently as Eleanor Dunbar in "Footloose" and Josie Pye in "Anne of Green Gables," both at COA. She has worked with Broadway or Bust in years past, counseling groups such as "Singin' in the Rain," "Matilda," and "Something Rotten" and participating in their high school intensives. She grew up learning to love and appreciate theater from her Gigi and is thrilled to be able to follow in her footsteps to inspire the next generation of Broadway lovers. While she will not pursue theater at a four-year university, she does hope to attend for Graphic Design or Computer Science and has currently been accepted to Western Carolina's Honors College, UNC Pembroke, and George Mason University.
Mary Elysse is the founder and director of Broadway or Bust. She is an alumna of Western Carolina University with degrees in Entrepreneurship and Management and a current Regent University student pursuing her Masters in Theatre. Mary Elysse enjoys writing and arranging music (especially audition cuts), has directed several musical revues and one-act plays, and served as the Currituck County Theatre assistant director for both Peter and the Starcatcher and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee.
Sidney is an alumna of Currituck County High School where she participated in the band program and pit orchestra. She is a graduating senior at Western Carolina University studying music education. She works for the Pride of the Mountains Marching Band where she assists in running all the events for the band program and all of the side ensembles. She is extremely excited to be working with Broadway or Bust for the third time and really enjoy working with all the amazing kids and staff.
MerriKate is a freshman at ODU, currently majoring in Music Education. This will be her third year working for Broadway or Bust. She enjoys learning new things, singing, acting, reading, and working with children. She was a featured soloist during the And The Nominees Are… and has been a part of numerous counselor pieces. She was in the 2019 North Carolina All State Choir and auditioned for the 2019 North Carolina Honors Choir. MerriKate looks forward to teaching new and returning faces!
Lauren is a rising sophomore at Radford University. She has been volunteering for Broadway or Bust since its inaugural season in 2016, and will be serving as choreographer this season. Lauren has been involved in the arts since her childhood, starting dance lessons at the age of eight and performing in her first musical at the age of 12. Currently, Lauren is a cast member of Urinetown at Radford University. She is ecstatic to share her love of the arts with the next generation at Broadway or Bust!
Madison is a CCHS rising senior who has been in a total of 2 plays for the school: As You Like It and Guys and Dolls. She is a part of the National Society Of High School Scholars. Madison also created a 5 person dance group who learn choreography and release videos on the internet, she is known as its leader and happens to organize everything going on. Madison teaches her sister, who is a part of the group, all the choreography after she learned it herself. She can adapt people's different parts while ideally keeping the general choreography the same.
